Bridgeville Borough is nestled between bridges to the north and south and surrounded by Chartiers Creek. The community is an easy drive to downtown Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh International Airport. With a population of approximately 5,300 residents, its small town feel is appealing to growing families and empty nesters, as well as young professionals. Bridgeville has affordable housing, first-class schools, a community association, an athletic association, a summer recreation program, a public library and offers many senior services.
Historically, Bridgeville has been made up of hardworking people who care about their neighbors and volunteer tirelessly to make their community a better place to live.

The Holy Child Knights of Columbus invites you to the First Annual "Prayer for Peace" on September 11, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at the Bridgeville V.F.D., 370 Commercial Dr, Bridgeville. We want to bring our community together to commemorate the 7th anniversay of the terrorist attack on our nation, remember those who lost their lives during that fateful day, and honor our firefighters, police forces and service men and women currently serving to protect us against a recurrence of such acts against our country.

The Homestead Act or "Act 50" Exclusion provides real estate property tax relief to homeowners whose permanent residence is in a participating taxing jurisdiction. We often associate the word "homestead" with the times of the California Gold Rush, the Pony Express, the telegraph and the Transcontinental and Pacific Railroads. The Homestead Act has more modern day application, and you must register for the Exclusion as the first broad-based distribution of state gaming funds through the PA Tax Payer Relief Act will occur in 2009. Registered homeowners in the Chartiers Valley School District can expect real estate tax relief in the amount of $107.59. The Homestead Exclusion is intended to ensure that real estate property tax reductions benefit the homeowner first and allows for the first $15,000 of their primary residence to be exempt from County taxes (saves about $40-50 per year). Many homeowners in our community are NOT registered. If you don't know if you are registered, go to the Allegheny Real Estate Assessment site here, locate your property and the bottom left it will indicate "yes" or "no" next to homestead. If you are not registered, you can view and print a registration form and instructions here. The deadline for registering is March 1, for current year distributions -- and you only need to register once.

You can read more here.
